I saw COAS on Thursday night. I actually read the book (and some of the later books in the series) several years ago, so I remembered the basic premise but was a bit murky on the details.
I wasn’t really that impressed with the movie. Of course, it followed the general storyline that I remembered. It just was lacking. Rebecca (the main character) didn’t have the awkwardness I was hoping for. I was expecting more of a Bridget Jones feel, where you’re literally cringing in your seat because of how absurd and awkward the character is. Isla, the actress, just seemed more campy than anything else.
It was still a fun night, and the movie wasn’t terrible by any means. I guess I was just expecting more.
the movie was pretty cute, but I was let down. maybe it was because I read the books and imagined it differently and had been waiting for it to come out since I found out the movie rights were purchased.
I loved it! I read the book series and was really looking forward to it. I do wish, however, that more detail/depth could have been put into the characters; ie: more like to books. Of course, I realize there was a limited amount to time work with. Isla Fisher is just gorgeous and sweet. She really brought Becky Bloomwood to life. Her parents were just perfect characters!
