Even Superman had his kryptonite.*
Mine? Dresses & shoes. (Ok. And food).
I love dresses – they are, in my humble opinion, the easiest (and most comfortable) way to look chic and put-together (and you never worry about coordinating colors). I love shoes too. Sling-backs, wedges, ballet flats – everything. I am surprisingly immune to purses/handbags.
Speaking of flats, here is my most recent aquisition.
Calvin Klein Madelyn in Plum, $25 on sale. I think I got the best color of the bunch – understated but not boring. I also like the stone, which gives the shoe a little bit of “bling”.
Now that you know my weaknesses… what are yours?
*Here’s something I’ve never figured out. If Clark Kent is from Krypton, then WHY does Kryptonite affect him so badly? It’d be like… I’m from Earth, then I got sent to Mars. But the boy of my dreams wears a piece of rock around his neck and that’s why I can’t get near him. But… didn’t I come from that rock?
If this has all been explained in the comics, please forgive my ignorance. But enlighten me!
Dresses? Not a problem for me.
Shoes? Not a temptation.
Food? My vice! π I love good food, and it’s the one thing I’ll go out and spend a stupid amount of money for. Someday I’ll learn… but for now, I think I’ll keep eating well.
Desserts!! Pretty much anything with chocolate in it.
As for fashion….most definitely SHOES! I can appreciate an interesting handbag, but lately I’m uninspired by what I’ve seen in stores (or maybe its just the price tags that un-inspire me).
No clue about Superman. I’m pretty sure I’ve had a friend explain it to me before, but I already forgot, haha.
I just want to say i love your blog! i recently started reading it and its great…
my weakness? i love going out to eat
anyway the superman thing…kryptonite is actually mineral debris from krypton that became radioactive and is now harmful to people from krypton just like any radioactive material from earth could be dangerous to us… i think kryptonite eventually destroyed krypton and thats why they sent him to earth..i could be wrong though.
I definitely spend more than I should on going out to eat. There’s a super cute clothing/shoe store about 1/2 block from where I live that is very reasonable but is almost always chalked full of good stuff, which is my saving grace. Yeah, food. Definitely food.
Angela is right about kryptonite; it is radioactive. Krypton did explode because of a thermonuclear chain reaction in its Kryptonite core.
My kryptonite is books. I have a ton of them, many of which I have not read. But I still feel the need to acquire more.
My weakness is shoes and purses. I love shoes. I will go without clothes but buy shoes. I’m not a brand snob though, it’s all about the style.
I love clothes, but especially blouses and trousers/pants. I’m not a dress/skirt woman. I love me a sale. π
I also love shoes. I wish I could wear heels more often because I’m short, but part of my commute involves quite a bit of walking and that would be painful (and I don’t want to bother with carrying around an extra pair of flats just to switch into heels at work).
I’m not as into handbags, but in the past year and a half, I’ve increased my collection significantly.
And I love to eat out too!
When I was younger (and to a lesser extent now), I used to buy books all the time. Nowadays I try to go to the library more often, but when it comes to new books, I often just buy those because the wait lists at the library for those books are soooo long.
Ohhh food has to be my biggest weakness. Tempt me with a nice dinner out and I’m all yours.
Also I cannot resist buying random beauty products from Sephora. Any hint of magic creams or beautifying lotions and the next thing I know my bank account has huge chunks taken out of it.
Seriously, though, how adorable are those shoes??
I’m a sucker for sales. Even though I know those Old Navy clothes will shrink and stretch and I will havethem in 2 weeks, I cannot resist a shirt for $5!
I’m afraid I’m a sucker for a big night out–coctails, entry into a club, champagne, and cab rides. I’m cutting back, though!
I am definitely a sucker for a fabulous pair of shoes…or two pairs…or three! Plus, I have issues when I go into a sporting goods store. If there is a sale on, who knows what I might come out with!
BTW, I chose you for a blog award today so congrats! Feel free to pay it forward to your favourite bloggers as well.
Cheers.
Just wanted to say I found you via Ms. Pushing30. I like what I’ve seen so far.
I talked a bit in one of my posts about weaknesses and avoiding them. But that was more about planning ahead to avoid certain situations.
Clothes are definitely my weakness. Sometimes that extends to shoes and/or purses. I love looking at shoes. I love thinking about buying shoes. But I have nerve damage in my feet (and wide feet) so I do definitely save money since a lot of them aren’t terribly comfortable. (When will shoe makers realize that not all women weigh 130 or less? Those of us with some padding get pained at putting nearly 200 lbs on the balls of our feet!)
I’m currently loving my Born Mary Jane flats I found at Nordy’s Rack for about $40. After using a gift certificate I think I paid $13. They’re great for being comfy but dressy as needed. But also being as versatile as sneakers. Soooo comfortable too! I think it may be the beginning of a pricey relationship with Born and Sofft. Esp now that there’s a DSW one mile from me.
It used to be cars but nothing too much now π
Weaknesses? Books and food. π I’m still working on both.
…my weakness is not spending money. You heard me right. And no, it’s not a blessing in disguise. I end up finding the perfect purse, great price, exactly what I need, but I can’t bring myself to buy it.
I got my first haircut yesterday (other than a dad-sponsored trim at a cheapo place) since December 2006. Why? Becase I can’t bring myself to spend the money (my favorite place charges $30) even though I feel that a good haircut is worth the money. =(
Food and travel! And shoes. I have a horrible weakness for pointed-toe, 3.5″ high heels… π
those shoes are adorable. I bought a pair of Alfani flats that are black with suede on the sides and patent leather on the toe/heel. SO CUTE. Shoes/Clothes/Food are my weaknesses.
My weakness is most definitely shoes, although lately handbags have been sneaking into the mix!
Nice blog btw π
Kryptonite is radioactive pieces of Krypton from when it got blown up. It’s not just regular pieces of the planet. You just have to remember that Superman isn’t human, even though he looks human. You just have to sort of accept the story π
I definitely think anything electronic is my passion, I am a store manager of a cell phone store and I love anything to do with cell phones or other electronics, including but not limited to, cell phones, apple/mac products, gps, bluetooth, and basically anything gadget-y that makes my life simpler and I feel on the edge of technology! π
I’m also known by my friends as superman for what I deal with!
