I took about 3 loads of laundry home.
Yes, yes I did.
My apartment building has a tiny little laundry room away from the main building (I will not walk there after dark). I never use the dryers… they don’t look very clean.
That leaves me with 2 choices: (1) hand wash the items that needs to be hand washed, and (2) go home.
So… I went big (2 full sets of sheets & duvets and a full stack of towels) and I went home.
When I was in college in Los Angeles, I made the trip home to San Diego every 2-3 weeks to see family, friends, and to do several loads of laundry. I may have spent a lot in gas (but oh, how cheap it was then compared to today’s prices) and many hours on the road, but I did save a ton doing laundry at home.
Nothing wrong with that. I took my laundry home (or to my girlfriend’s) through most of college, and on occasion after. Why not? Its free and your mom will never say no because she likes to see you.
I hear ya. In college, I lived at home. In grad school, I lived 3.5 hours away. However, when I was going to visit my parents, *if* I had laundry that just happened to be ready for washing, of course I’d take it with me.
I’m going home next weekend, and yep, I’ll take some w/ me.
This has led to some interesting situations, I’ll tell ya:
Having my transmission bomb out at the top of the Grapevine, w/ clean laundry (and elderly kitty!) in the car with me. On a hot, sunny day.
More recently, on the way TO visit my family (so, dirty laundry ), a tire blow out. And kitty with me again (different kitty).
Been there. Still doin’ that.
I know exactly what you mean. I went home more frequently in college after I had moved out of the dorms and into my own apartment mainly because of laundry. In college, there was laundry on every floor and it was well maintained. In my scary old apartment building, the laundry room was disgusting — mice, bats, spiders, etc. I was terrified to go down there at night, and I hated even going down there during the day.
That’s what parents are for! 🙂
This post title and 2nd line made me think of Mary Murphy from SYTYCD, lol. And hey–a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do!
Ha! When I lived near my paren’ts house, I would bring laundry home all the time… and then I’d make my mom wash it!
So really, what you did is fine! 😀
I used to frequently bring laundry home…$2.50/load is expensive…and the washers and dryers were horrible. Now that I’m so far away from home, I don’t know what I’ll do!
