Yes, that is correct. My credit card statement confirmed it – yours truly has not spent a single penny at Starbucks since the $3.40 soy vanilla latte over a month ago.
I think this might be the longest I’ve gone without Starbucks in… well, a long time.
Anyhow, my credit card statement for September hovered around $350, compared to my August statement, which was a whopping $1,700 (mostly due to my unrestrained epicurean habit in NYC). My spending for October will be a bit higher, as some significant expenses (the $100 car repair, for example) weren’t included in the September statement.
The “latte factor,” alas, was not a significant factor in either the low spending this month nor the high spending last month.
So… perhaps tomorrow I shall treat myself to a latte? 😉
Wow, that’s a long time to go without Starbucks! I’m impressed. Go treat yourself!! 🙂
My last trip there was August 28th. I didn’t even think to check before you posted this, but hey, you’ve given me something else to be proud of myself about. Go us! 🙂
I don’t like coffe, so I can’t understand this obsession people have…
Ha ha. You stopped going to Starbucks on my birthday. :O)
I go every week since it’s where my knitting group meets, but I buy it by the pound and drink it at work after I’ve made it myself. Much cheaper. However, I drink it black without sugar. It’s cheaper and healthier that way. All the flavenoids without the calories, fat or expense.
But if your addiction was a challenge, then good for you for breaking the habit!
Lol, guess we’ve got something in common about facing huge credit card bills as a result of spending time in New York!
Yet, I still want to go back for Xmas – and probably spend more… :-S
God, I wish I had your discipline! Coffe is like crack to me. I go near a coffee shop and I cave. I have gotten a lot better the past few months, but can’t go cold turkey. August 29th…that’s like, over a month ago. damn.
I totally relate to how hard it is to resist sometimes. It’s not Starbucks for me; I have a local coffee shop that brews the best espresso.
I bought a coffeeish drink for my little sister yesterday and successfully resisted buying one for myself. 😀
That’s a great accomplishment – and an awesome amount in savings. Maybe I’ll try for this goal next. It’ll be hard, I have 3 Starbucks within a minute’s walk from my office. Come to think of it, that’s pretty ridiculous…
By the way, your blog looks awesome. From the look of things, you’ll definitely be on the top of my list of blogs to read regularly. I’m glad I’ve finally found someone I have a lot in common with (at least blog-wise :-)).
I struggle with a Starbucks soy latte habit as well.. I purchased a small thermos and now most mornings I make coffee at home, microwave a cup of soy milk, mix and bring to work – Half for the morning; half for the afternoon. It is more like a misto than a latte, but it satisfies.
Heeled, now see how much longer you can go without! I can see you’re making lots of progress on your debts/dreams, but you can only make progress through diligence! Do you have a cheap replacement for your Starbuck’s, so you don’t miss it? I’m willing to bet you could come up with a way to make it “almost the same” at home just to make yourself feel better – and at a fraction of the price. Or take it to the park on the weekend and take in the fresh air to make the situation feel special.
