I went through the ENTIRE WEEK of January 14th to January 20th without spending ONE penny on dining out.
What’s more, I’m actually pretty happy with the lack of restaurant-fare.
For some, it might not sound much of an accomplishment, but then there’s me.
In the past, it would’ve been so easy to just get Chinese takeout on a Friday night and head to Chili’s for a Saturday meal. Sunday lunches might be spent at Chipotle or In-n-Out. It’s not as if I deprived myself much this week - my grocery bags were full of Haagen Dazs ice cream (3 tubs) and yummy frozen foods from Trader Joe’s.
But still. I made it one week without eating out. I’m going to try to go another week without eating out… we’ll see how that goes.
Update: It is now Thursday, Jan 24, and I still have yet to spend one penny on outside food. But enough is enough! I’m getting some juicy In-N-Out burgers and delicious milkshake this weekend.
Hold up hold up… you can get In-N-Out in New York? Where? Seriously? I’ll come down from Boston every couple weeks if I can get my #3.
Congrats!!!
Nice job! I haven’t eaten out yet this week (since Monday), but I doubt I’ll make it all the way through the weekend…however I’ve run through my eating out budget for the month already, so I won’t be doing too much of it!
I almost always go through my ($250) eating out budget - but I usually don’t use my whole shopping or entertainment budget up, so I take it from there.
that’s awesome!! I didn’t step foot in a grocery store for the first 3 weeks in January and basically ate out every single meal so far this year
BUT I just ordered my groceries online using Peapod today (a first for me), so hopefully that’ll get my butt cooking.
Good work!! Keep it up!
Congratulations! I’m jealous - I broke down and went out to lunch yesterday. But I paid with a gift card!
Good for you! Wish I had that kind of restraint.
BTW, can you update the link for my blog. K’thanks!
That’s amazing, congrats! I wish I had your self-control. Totally got a slice this evening even though I should have feasted on the Smart Ones in my freezer.
You are setting some great examples this year including the no spending on clothes for six months! I haven’t been able to keep the eating out mostly job related stuff to less than $50 a month for the last five months. You’re amazing!
